Let’s think of your life at school like a very long journey – full of challenges and victories. A long journey is enhanced by a strong team. Most often the greatest successes are the result of many working together. An African proverb states, “”If you want to go fast, go alone; but if you want to go far, go together.” College success is not fast…it is far.

College is literally a four year project…four years. So first, we need to get on our own team – act in our own best interest. This leads directly to joining different campus groups.  I encourage you to start out easy and join the international club or community – you will find superb alignment and belonging. Beyond that give some thought to what makes your life rich and full. There are all sorts of groups: fitness, spiritual, game playing, fashion, social, and political…just to name a few.

Go to their meeting and introduce yourself – get to know them and let them get to know you. The selection should be personal and it should resonate with you. But, don’t overthink it. Just give it a try. You will be amazed at the positive impact that having MORE on your schedule does for your life.
